Terms of Service

The ground rules

Last updated 2026-08-31

Who we are

CapaCapa is operated by Borders Web Development, LLC ("we," "us"). By using CapaCapa, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

What CapaCapa is

CapaCapa gives parents a quick, plain-language report card on the content of kids' books — things like violence, language, scary themes, and romance — so you can decide whether a book is right for your child.

What our ratings are — and aren't

This part matters, so we'll be direct:

  • Report cards are generated by AI from publisher descriptions, community tags, and other book metadata. We generally have not read the book.
  • They are informational opinions, not facts. They can be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong — a rating may miss content that's in a book, or flag content that isn't.
  • They are a starting point, not a substitute for your judgment. You are responsible for deciding what your child reads. If a book matters to you, check it yourself.

No warranties, limited liability

CapaCapa is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Borders Web Development, LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us to use CapaCapa in the twelve months before the claim (which, for a free service, is zero). Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Your account

You don't need an account to scan or search. If you create one, keep your sign-in method secure — you're responsible for activity under your account. You must be an adult to create an account; CapaCapa is built for parents and isn't directed at children.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no scraping or bulk-harvesting our content, no attempting to disrupt or overload the site, no using it for anything unlawful, and no misrepresenting our report cards as something we (or a publisher) have endorsed. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these terms.

Content and ownership

Book titles, covers, and descriptions belong to their publishers and authors; we display them to help you identify books. Our report cards, site design, and other original content belong to Borders Web Development, LLC. You're welcome to use CapaCapa for personal, non-commercial purposes — share a report card with a friend, not with a product.

Third-party links

We link out to libraries, retailers, and other services to help you borrow or buy books. Those sites have their own terms and privacy practices, and we're not responsible for them.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms; if we do, we'll update the date at the top, and continued use means you accept the changes. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
